The Ashney Bot
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Ashney helps people who are quietly exploring the job market catch new openings early. To do that, a small automated reader visits publicly available job listings. This page explains exactly what it does, and how any site owner can identify it, contact us, or ask us to stop.
User-agent: Ashney/0.1 (+https://ashney.ai/bot)
Contact: privacy@ashney.ai
What it reads
- Public, logged-out job listings from companies' own careers pages and the public job-board APIs their applicant-tracking systems provide (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, and similar).
- Factual role information (title, location, team, and a link to the original posting), plus the job description, which Ashney uses internally to judge how well a role fits a given user.
- It links back to your original posting so candidates apply on your site. Ashney does not host or republish your listings, it surfaces a shortlist and sends people to the source.
How it behaves
- Never signs in. It reads only what any anonymous visitor can see. No accounts, no credentials, no getting around a login.
- Polite and slow. Infrequent, fixed-interval requests with back-off, not aggressive crawling.
- Identifies itself. It sends the user-agent above and points here. It does not disguise its traffic to evade detection.
- Honours your wishes. If your
robots.txtdisallows a path, we treat that as a no and stop reading it.
Opt out or get in touch
If you would prefer that Ashney not read your careers pages, or you have any question or request, email privacy@ashney.ai and we will stop that source promptly. You can also block the user-agent above, or disallow it in your robots.txt, and we will honour it.
