This week's read

This week there are 1,048 open Product Marketing Manager roles in the US, spread across 700 companies. New postings are up 14% over the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before. A typical role stays open for 45 days before it's filled or pulled.

This is not an easy market to break into. The median minimum experience asked for is 7 years, and 21% of postings want 10 years or more. Only 3% of roles are labeled junior, so most of the hiring is aimed at people who already have a track record in the field.

Pay is visible in 60% of postings, and the typical range across all levels is $146k to $200k. At the Director level, where 114 roles are open, the typical range runs $185k to $256k. At mid level, with 232 roles open, it's $125k to $175k.

31% of open roles sit at employers with recent H-1B visa filings. Among the top hirers, Amazon, NVIDIA, JPMorganChase, Meta, Applied Materials, and HP are all on that sponsor list.

AI and machine learning show up in 31% of postings, well ahead of any other skill, including Salesforce at 6% and CRM at 4%. Only 18% of roles are remote, so most of this hiring expects you in an office or hybrid.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a high experience bar

The median minimum ask is 7 years, and 21% of postings want 10 or more. Only 3% of roles are junior, so this market mostly hires people with a track record already.

  • Ask about pay early

60% of postings share a range, typically $146k to $200k overall. Director-level roles run $185k to $256k, mid level roles run $125k to $175k.

  • Target visa-sponsoring employers

31% of open roles sit at companies with recent H-1B filings. Amazon, NVIDIA, JPMorganChase, and Meta are among the top hirers on that list.

Momentum

New PMM roles each week

Last 30 days: 466 new roles, against 408 the 30 days before (+14%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. Pay is the median of the yearly ranges employers post; level is read from the job title. Visa sponsors are employers matched to the government's own sponsor records. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
