Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

South Korea's sales job market shows 336 open roles spread across 187 companies, and the past 30 days brought 27% more new postings than the 30 days before that. But the week-by-week pace tells a cooler story: new roles peaked the week of 19 October at 36, then slid to 28 by 26 October, a 22% drop from that high point.

No single employer dominates. Coupang has the most open sales roles at 17, followed by Medtronic, Danaher, Salesforce, Tgs and TransPerfect with 9 each, then Thermo Fisher and ABB. Even so, the top 8 employers together hold just 23% of all open roles, so most of the hiring is happening outside the big names.

Experience requirements lean senior. The median posting asks for at least 5 years, and 1 in 5 roles want 10 or more years. Despite that, the seniority mix of titles is mostly mid-level: 74% of roles are tagged mid, with 12% senior and 8% principal. Junior and lead titles are scarce, at 4% and 3%.

CRM tools and Salesforce experience are the two things employers ask for most, showing up in 18% and 17% of postings. AI and machine learning follows at 8%. On industry background, SaaS, healthcare and medical devices show up most often, at 13%, 11% and 10%.

If you want to work from home, options are thin: only 3% of open roles are remote. Roles also take a while to fill, sitting open a median of 38 days, so there is time to apply once you see one posted.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a high experience bar

The median posting asks for 5+ years, and 1 in 5 want 10 or more. If you have fewer years, look past the headline requirement since the title mix is mostly mid-level.

  • Remote is nearly off the table

Only 3% of open sales roles are remote. Plan on commuting or relocating for most positions in this market.

  • Look beyond the big names

Coupang leads with 17 open roles, but the top 8 employers hold just 23% of all postings. Cast a wide net across the 187 companies hiring.

Momentum

New Sales roles each week

Last 30 days: 118 new roles, against 93 the 30 days before (+27%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
