If you're hunting for a Technical Program Manager role in India right now, the market has slowed from where it was a few weeks ago. New postings in the last 30 days fell to 108, down 26% from the 146 posted in the previous 30 days. The weekly numbers tell the same story: postings peaked at 42 in the week of 14 September and have since dropped to 28, a 33% fall from that high.
This is not a junior-friendly market. Only 3% of open roles are tagged junior, while 24% are senior and 18% are principal level. Among roles that state a years requirement, which is 75% of all open roles, the median minimum is 7 years, and 32% ask for 10 or more years. If you have under a decade of experience, you'll be competing for a smaller slice of what's open.
Hiring is spread across a lot of companies, 137 of them, but a handful lead the list. Amazon has the most open roles at 20, followed by LTIMindtree at 12, and Mastercard and Qualcomm at 7 each. Still, the top 8 employers together hold only 27% of all open roles, so most of the opportunity sits outside the biggest names.
On skills, Agile shows up in 46% of postings and Jira in 33%, with Scrum, Confluence and SAFe also common asks. AI and machine learning is named in 23% of postings, more than any other technology. PMP is the most requested certification, named in 30% of postings. Remote options are scarce: only 1% of open roles are remote, and pay details are too thin to report what the market is paying.
Roles stay open for a median of 25 days, so there's no extreme rush on either side. With postings down and the weekly pace having cooled since its peak, this looks like a market where fewer new roles are opening up each week, even though 234 remain live right now.
