Issue of 2 November 2026This week's read
There are 1,147 open People & HR roles in India this week, up 17% over the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before. The pace has been building: new postings climbed most weeks since early September, and the week of 26 October brought 135 new roles, the most of any week so far.
This hiring is not coming from a handful of big names. 509 companies have open roles, and the top 8 employers together hold only 19% of all open roles. That list includes LTIMindtree, Amazon, Marriott International, Genpact, Amgen, PWC and Paytm, a mix that runs from IT services to hospitality to consulting, so there is no single employer to chase.
Most roles sit in the middle of the career ladder. 59% of titles are mid-level, with senior roles at 19% and junior at 12%. The experience bar is real but not extreme: the median posting asks for 5 years minimum, and only 14% of roles want 10 or more years.
When it comes to tools, Workday is the one to know, named in 21% of postings. Employment law knowledge is also asked for often, showing up in 12% of listings, well ahead of other named industries like manufacturing or consulting. Certifications like PHR, SHRM-SCP and SPHR barely come up, each named in 2% or fewer postings.
Two things are worth flagging before you apply. Only 2% of these roles are remote, so plan on being in office. And pay is almost never posted, just 1% of listings state a figure, so there is not enough data here to say what the market pays.
What this means for you
Three things you can act on this week
- Aim at mid-level, not entry
59% of open roles are mid-level and the median posting asks for 5 years minimum experience. Only 12% are junior, so tailor your pitch to a few years of hands-on HR work, not a first job.
- Workday knowledge stands out
Workday is named in 21% of postings, more than any other tool. If you have used it, say so clearly near the top of your resume.
- Don't chase just the big names
509 companies are hiring and the top 8, including LTIMindtree, Amazon and Genpact, hold only 19% of roles between them. Widen your search beyond the familiar names.
Momentum
New People roles each week
Last 30 days: 390 new roles, against 332 the 30 days before (+17%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.
