Issue of 2 November 2026This week's read
There are 277 open Data & ML Engineer roles across the rest of Latin America right now, spread across 138 companies. The 30-day count of new postings held flat: 111 new roles this period, 111 the period before, no change. A role stays open a median of 28 days.
Look at the week-by-week picture and the story is a little different. New postings peaked the week of 21 September at 31, and by the week of 26 October had slipped to 25, a 19% drop from that high. So while the monthly total is steady, the pace of fresh postings has eased off its best week.
This market wants experience. The median minimum asked is 5 years, and 8% of postings ask for 10 or more. Only 59% of roles state a year requirement at all, but where they do, the bar is high: 30% of postings are titled senior and 12% principal, against just 3% junior and 49% mid.
Remote work is limited here: only 15% of open roles are remote. Capgemini has the most open roles at 14, followed by Encora on 12, Muttdata on 10 and CI&T on 9, but the top 8 companies together hold only 26% of all open roles, so hiring is spread wide rather than concentrated in a few names. On skills, Python shows up in 63% of postings and SQL in 56%, with AI and machine learning named in 44%. Cloud tools follow: AWS in 34%, Azure in 26%, Databricks in 25%, Google Cloud in 24% and dbt in 22%.
What this means for you
Three things you can act on this week
- Expect a high experience bar
The median minimum asked is 5 years, and 8% of postings want 10 or more. Only 3% of roles are junior, so this market mostly targets mid-level and above.
- Remote roles are scarce
Just 15% of open roles are remote. Plan on most positions being on-site or hybrid when you search here.
- Python and SQL are the baseline
Python appears in 63% of postings and SQL in 56%. AI and machine learning is named in 44%, well ahead of any single cloud platform.
Momentum
New Data / ML roles each week
Last 30 days: 111 new roles, against 111 the 30 days before (0%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.
