If you've been watching this market for a while, the chart tells the real story this week: the pace of new postings has eased a lot from its peak. The week of 21 September brought 76 new software engineer roles, the busiest week in two months. By the week of 26 October that number had dropped to 42, a fall of 45% from that high point.
Zoom out to the last 30 days and the same slowdown shows up. Companies posted 235 new roles in that window, down from 261 in the 30 days before, a drop of 10%. There are still 609 open roles on the board right now, spread across 256 different companies, so the slowdown is in the pace of new postings, not in the total number of jobs open.
Among the companies hiring the most, Encora 10 stands out: it has 33 open roles and its new postings jumped 104% compared with the prior 30 days, the opposite direction from the market overall. Mercado Libre has 31 open roles, Capgemini has 22, and Periferia IT has 17. Together, the eight biggest employers in this market hold 24% of all open roles, so most of the jobs are still spread across smaller companies.
On skills, Python shows up in 35% of postings, more than any other technology, followed by REST APIs at 33%. For experience, the median posting asks for 5 years minimum, and only 2% of postings ask for 10 or more years, so this is not a market dominated by very senior demands. A typical role stays open for 28 days before it is filled or taken down.
Remote work is still the exception here: only 21% of open roles are listed as remote, so most hiring is happening for on-site or hybrid positions. If you are searching, expect most live postings to come with a location attached.
