Issue of 2 November 2026This week's read
There are 360 open Product Designer roles in India right now, spread across 228 companies. That is a wide market: no single employer dominates. The top 8 employers together, including LTIMindtree, Tata Technologies, Weekday AI and Quest Global, hold only 17% of all open roles.
The pace of new postings has not moved much. 121 roles opened in the last 30 days against 120 in the prior 30, a 1% change. The most recent week, 26 October, also matches the busiest week in the last two months, with 40 new roles. So there is no sign of hiring slowing down, but no surge either.
A typical posting takes 26 days to close. Experience expectations lean senior: the median minimum asked for is 5 years, and 9% of postings want 10 or more years. Senior and principal titles together make up a third of postings, while junior titles are only 8%.
Design tool skills matter more than anything else here. Figma is asked for in 45% of postings, well ahead of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator at 27% each, and Adobe Creative Cloud at 21%. AI and machine learning shows up in 18% of postings, more than any ways-of-working method like Agile, which sits at 12%.
This is mostly an office market. Only 6% of open roles are remote. Pay is rarely disclosed too, with just 2% of postings stating a figure, so there is not enough data to say what the market typically pays.
What this means for you
Three things you can act on this week
- Expect to show 5+ years
The median minimum experience asked is 5 years, and senior plus principal titles make up a third of postings. Junior titles are only 8%, so early-career applicants face a smaller slice of the market.
- Figma is the baseline skill
Figma appears in 45% of postings, well ahead of any Adobe tool. If you are updating a portfolio or resume, make sure Figma work is easy to find.
- Don't expect remote or pay details
Only 6% of roles are remote and just 2% state pay. Plan on in-person or hybrid roles, and expect to negotiate pay without a posted range.
Momentum
New Design roles each week
Last 30 days: 121 new roles, against 120 the 30 days before (+1%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.
