UK product design postings grow 14% this month, but the weekly pace has cooled since its mid-October peak

Hiring looks busier over the last 30 days, yet new postings each week have fallen 40% since the peak week of 12 October.

This week's read

There are 347 open Product Designer roles in the UK right now, spread across 246 different companies. Over the last 30 days, new postings are up 14% compared with the 30 days before. But look week by week and the picture shifts: postings peaked the week of 12 October, then fell 40% by the week of 26 October. The month looks stronger than the most recent weeks do.

No single employer controls this market. The top 8 named employers together make up just 14% of all open roles, so most of your options sit outside the big names. Capgemini has the largest count among them, and Deliveroo, Lloyds Banking Group, Accenture and Amazon also appear on the list, each with a handful of open roles.

Half of all open roles sit at employers that have recently filed for visa sponsorship, matched against the UK Home Office sponsor register. Among the named top employers, Capgemini, Deliveroo, Lloyds Banking Group, Accenture and Amazon all appear on that register, which matters if you need sponsorship to work in the UK.

On skills, Figma is named in 34% of postings, well ahead of anything else, and AI and machine learning show up in 22%. Remote work is rare here: only 8% of roles are listed as remote, so most of this market expects you in an office at least some of the time.

Pay is hard to judge in this market. Only 10% of postings include any pay information, which is too few roles to say what the market typically pays for this work.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Monthly growth, weekly slowdown

Postings are up 14% over the last month, but the weekly count has dropped 40% since its mid-October peak. Don't assume the busiest week is still ahead; apply to roles as you find them rather than waiting.

  • Check sponsor status early

Half of all open roles sit at employers with recent visa filings on the UK Home Office sponsor register, including Capgemini, Deliveroo, Lloyds Banking Group, Accenture and Amazon. If you need sponsorship, check this before applying.

  • Figma shows up most

Figma is named in 34% of postings, far more than any other tool, and AI and machine learning appear in 22%. Whether you highlight these in your application is up to you.

Momentum

New Design roles each week

Last 30 days: 137 new roles, against 120 the 30 days before (+14%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. Visa sponsors are employers matched to the government's own sponsor records. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
