UK marketing postings jump 33%, but hiring stays spread across hundreds of firms

New roles climbed to 799 from 603 in a month, and weekly postings hit their highest point yet. But no single employer controls the market: the top 8 names hold just 15% of all open roles.

This week's read

There are 1,936 open marketing roles in the UK right now, spread across 944 companies. New postings rose 33% over the last 30 days, from 603 to 799. Weekly postings have been climbing too, reaching 256 in the week of 26 October, the highest week in the last two months.

Don't expect one or two big employers to explain the growth. The top 8 employers together hold only 15% of all open roles. Private Equity Insights has the most open roles at 95, followed by WPP Media at 63, which also posted 2% more new roles than the month before. Nationwide, The Hut Group, Amazon, Bursonglobalcareers, Dentsu Aegis and LADbible Group round out the top 8, and all are on the UK Home Office sponsor register.

If you need visa sponsorship, that register matters: 47% of all open roles sit at employers with recent visa filings against it. That's a meaningful share of the market, worth checking before you apply.

Most roles ask for real experience. The median minimum is 5 years, and 10% of postings want 10 or more. Still, only 38% of roles state a years requirement at all, so plenty leave it open. By title, 56% of roles are mid-level, 17% principal, 15% senior, 7% junior and 6% lead.

Working from home is rare here: only 9% of roles are remote. And if you're hoping to compare offers, pay transparency is thin too, just 12% of postings state pay, too few to say what the market actually pays. On skills, AI and machine learning is the most named, appearing in 16% of postings, ahead of CRM at 12% and TikTok at 10%.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Check the sponsor register first

47% of open roles sit at employers with recent visa filings against the UK Home Office sponsor register. If you need sponsorship, this narrows down where to focus your search.

  • State your years of experience clearly

The median minimum asked is 5 years, but only 38% of postings state a years requirement. Where it's not stated, don't assume you're ruled out: apply and let your experience speak.

  • Don't expect remote by default

Only 9% of open marketing roles are remote. If location flexibility matters to you, check each listing closely rather than assuming hybrid or remote is standard.

Momentum

New Marketing roles each week

Last 30 days: 799 new roles, against 603 the 30 days before (+33%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. Visa sponsors are employers matched to the government's own sponsor records. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
