This week's read

Marketing hiring in India picked up speed this autumn. In the last 30 days, companies posted 373 new roles, up from 268 in the 30 days before, a 39% jump. Weekly postings rose through September and October, hitting 117 in the week of 26 October, the highest of the past eight weeks and still the latest reading.

This growth is spread wide, not concentrated in a few names. There are 1,338 open roles across 542 companies, and the eight biggest employers, including Kotak Mahindra Bank, LTIMindtree, Dentsu Aegis and Weekday AI, together hold only 20% of all open roles. Roles also do not sit open long: the median is 23 days, so a strong application now has a real shot.

Most openings are for mid-level marketers. 62% of roles are tagged mid-level, against 15% senior, 11% junior, and smaller shares for lead and principal titles. Among roles that state an experience requirement, which is 68% of all postings, the typical ask is a minimum of 4 years, and 10% of roles want 10 or more years.

On skills, digital marketing know-how leads the list. AI and machine learning is named in 16% of postings, the highest of any skill tracked, followed by tools like Google Analytics and advertising platforms such as LinkedIn Ads and Meta Ads. Formal certifications barely come up in these postings. Two things are in short supply: remote work, at just 4% of roles, and pay transparency, with only 3% of postings stating a salary.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Move quickly on applications

The median role stays open just 23 days, and postings are still rising week over week. Don't wait too long to apply once you see a role that fits.

  • Aim for mid-level roles

62% of open roles are mid-level, and most state a minimum years requirement, typically around 4 years. If that matches your experience, you're in the biggest pool of openings.

  • Show digital ad and analytics tools

AI and machine learning, Google Analytics, LinkedIn Ads and Meta Ads show up often in postings. Naming your experience with these in your application can match what employers are screening for.

Momentum

New Marketing roles each week

Last 30 days: 373 new roles, against 268 the 30 days before (+39%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
