Ashney Market WatchEuropeMarketing Issue of 2 November 2026

European marketing postings jump 16%, but no single employer controls the field

New marketing roles rose from 1,418 to 1,642 in a month, yet the top 8 employers hold just 8% of all open jobs. This is a wide, scattered market.

Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 4,479 open marketing roles across Europe right now, spread over 1,776 different companies. New postings rose 16% in the last 30 days, from 1,418 to 1,642. A typical role stays open 25 days before it's filled or pulled.

The weekly pace climbed steadily from 292 new roles in the week of 7 September to a peak of 463 in the week of 12 October. It eased slightly after that, to 432 in the week of 26 October, but is still well above where it started in September.

No single company dominates hiring here. The top 8 employers combined only make up 8% of all open roles. Dentsu Aegis leads with 63 open roles, followed by WPP Media with 57 and GROUPE CANAL+ with 50. Among the named employers, Cordes Consulting grew its new postings fastest, up 9%, while WPP Media rose 2%. Pfizer went the other way: its new postings dropped 92% and it now shows 0 open roles.

On skills, TikTok and CRM are each named in 10% of postings, AI and machine learning in 9%, and LinkedIn Ads and Meta Ads in 8% each. Certifications barely come up at all, and tools like Jira or Asana appear in 1% of postings or less. Only 37% of roles state how many years of experience they want, though when they do, the median minimum is 4 years and 9% ask for 10 or more.

Remote work is scarce, at 8% of open roles. Pay is rarely posted too, just 5% of listings include it, so there isn't enough data to say what this market typically pays.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Don't chase certifications here

Certifications barely appear in postings, and tools like Jira or Asana show up in 1% or less. Skills named more often are TikTok, CRM and AI and machine learning, at 9 to 10%.

  • Check if years are even stated

Only 37% of postings specify required years. When they do, the median minimum is 4 years, and just 9% ask for 10 or more, so don't assume you're under-qualified without checking.

  • Expect to negotiate pay and location

Only 5% of postings list pay and only 8% are remote. Go in ready to ask directly about both rather than expecting them upfront.

Momentum

New Marketing roles each week

Last 30 days: 1,642 new roles, against 1,418 the 30 days before (+16%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
