Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 650 open Product Designer roles across Europe this week, spread over 478 different companies. New postings are up: 283 went live in the last 30 days, against 247 in the 30 days before that, a rise of 15%. Weekly postings did cool a little toward the end of October after a peak in the middle of the month, but the 30-day trend is still pointing up.

This is not a market with one or two companies doing all the hiring. Capgemini, Nord Security, Scopely and ABB are among the busiest names, but each has only a handful of open roles, and together the eight biggest employers account for just 8% of all postings. If you are job hunting here, you will do better casting a wide net than watching a short list of big names.

Figma is the one tool you will see again and again: it is named in 44% of postings, far ahead of anything else. Adobe tools still show up, Photoshop and AI and machine learning skills are each asked for in 17% of postings, and Illustrator in 14%. Among industries, SaaS, gaming and e-commerce come up most often, each in roughly 1 in 15 postings.

On experience, half of all postings do not state a required number of years at all. Among the ones that do, the typical minimum asked for is 5 years, and only 7% want 10 or more. Mid-level titles make up the bulk of the market, senior titles are the next biggest group, and junior titles are a small slice.

Two things to plan around: remote work is scarce, with only 14% of roles offering it, and pay is rarely posted, showing up in just 5% of listings, so there is not enough data yet to say what this market typically pays.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Look beyond the big names

The top eight employers hold only 8% of open roles between them. Spreading your search across smaller and mid-size companies will likely turn up more than focusing on a handful of known names.

  • Figma comes up constantly

Figma is named in 44% of postings, well ahead of any other tool. Worth knowing before you apply, even though the decision to brush up on it is yours.

  • Don't assume you need 10 years

Half of postings don't state a years requirement at all, and among those that do, the typical minimum is 5 years. Only 7% ask for 10 or more, so don't rule yourself out early.

Momentum

New Design roles each week

Last 30 days: 283 new roles, against 247 the 30 days before (+15%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
