There are 443 open remote software engineer roles right now, spread across 216 companies. But the flow of new postings has slowed a lot. In the last 30 days, 110 new roles went up, down from 262 in the 30 days before that, a drop of 58%.
The weekly chart tells the same story. The busiest week was 14 September, with 83 new roles. The most recent week, 26 October, had just 31. That is a 63% drop from the peak, so the pace has clearly eased since then even though there are still hundreds of open roles to apply to.
Roles are also taking a while to fill: the median open role has been live 33 days. On experience, most postings do not spell out a minimum, but among those that do, the typical ask is 5 years, and 12% of all roles want 10 or more years.
Every single one of these 443 roles is remote, so location is not the filter here, your resume is. Madiffpl has the most open roles at 44, well ahead of the next group, which includes G2I, Jobs at FyerX and Menaalliances. Even so, the top 8 companies together only hold 31% of all open roles, so hiring is spread across a long tail of smaller employers too.
On skills, TypeScript and Python lead the pack, named in 33% and 31% of postings. If you are updating your resume or portfolio, those are the two most common asks right now, worth weighing alongside how you present your experience level.
