Issue of 2 November 2026This week's read
If you have been watching this market for a while, you may have noticed things slowing down. The week of 7 September saw 30 new roles posted. By the week of 26 October, that had fallen to 14, a drop of 53% from the peak. Looking at the last 30 days against the 30 before that, new postings fell from 84 to 65, down 23%.
Even with fewer new postings, there is still real breadth here. 164 roles are open right now across 102 different companies, so this is not a market run by a handful of big employers. The top 8 companies together hold only 32% of all open roles. One of them, GROUPE TEHORA, has 21 roles open on its own, more than any other employer on the list, while others like CACI, Supabase and FyerX each have a handful.
Look at what the postings are asking for and a clear pattern shows up. AWS and Kubernetes are each named in 34% of postings, Python in 31%, and Terraform in 30%. If you work with cloud infrastructure and containers, that is where the demand sits right now.
Most of these roles are not entry level. 59% are mid-level titles and 24% are senior, with junior roles making up only 4%. Where years of experience are stated, the median minimum asked is 5 years, and 12% of postings want 10 years or more. Once a role goes up, it tends to stay open a median of 30 days before it is filled or pulled.
What this means for you
Three things you can act on this week
- Move fast once you apply
Roles stay open a median of 30 days. With new postings slowing, waiting too long on one you like means a smaller pool of fresh openings behind it.
- Aim at mid-level, not junior
59% of open roles are mid-level and only 4% are junior. If you have some experience already, you are applying into the biggest part of this market.
- Lead with cloud and containers
AWS and Kubernetes each appear in 34% of postings, Python in 31%, Terraform in 30%. These are the skills worth putting at the top of your resume.
Momentum
New IT / Infra roles each week
Last 30 days: 65 new roles, against 84 the 30 days before (-23%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.
