Issue of 2 November 2026This week's read
There are 708 open IT and infrastructure roles across the rest of Asia-Pacific right now, spread across 356 companies. The 30-day count barely moved: 158 new roles this period against 160 before, a 1% dip. A typical role stays open 27 days before it is filled or pulled.
Look at the week-by-week pace and the picture is steadier than flat growth. New postings ran in the high 30s for most of September and October, then jumped to 51 in the week of 26 October, the busiest of the eight weeks tracked.
Employers are asking for experience. The median posting wants at least 5 years, and 9% want 10 years or more. By title, 62% of roles sit at mid level, 21% at senior, and 8% at principal, so most openings are not entry-level but also are not asking for the most senior people.
No single employer dominates this market. The top 8 companies together hold only 16% of all open roles. DXC Technology leads with 25 openings, followed by Celestica International with 16, then Kyndryl and NTT Limited tied at 14 each.
On skills, Linux and Python are each named in about a quarter of postings, with AWS in 23% and Azure in 21%. Kubernetes and Terraform appear in 18% and 16%. Remote work is rare here: only 4% of open roles are listed as remote.
What this means for you
Three things you can act on this week
- Look past the big names
The top 8 employers hold only 16% of open roles between them. With 356 companies hiring, casting a wide net matters more than chasing a handful of large firms.
- Check the experience bar
The median posting asks for at least 5 years, and 60% of roles state a years requirement. Read postings closely before applying so you know where you fit.
- Cloud and Linux skills come up most
Linux, Python, AWS, and Azure are each named in at least a fifth of postings, with Kubernetes and Terraform close behind. These are the skills showing up most often.
Momentum
New IT / Infra roles each week
Last 30 days: 158 new roles, against 160 the 30 days before (-1%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.
