Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 1,093 open Operations roles across 433 companies in the rest of Asia-Pacific right now, and the typical role stays open 23 days. New postings in the last 30 days (328) were up 12% from the 30 days before (294). But look at the week-by-week picture: postings peaked at 89 in the week of 19 October and have since eased to 76, a drop of 15% from that high point. The month is up, but the most recent week is not the strongest one.

Hiring is spread thin. The top 8 employers, including Teleperformance (35 open roles), JPMorganChase (27), Coupang (23), Amartha (21) and Maersk (21), together hold only 17% of all open roles. That means no single company dominates this market, and a job seeker's odds are not tied to a handful of big names. One mover worth noting: JLL posted far fewer new roles than before, down 78% in the last 30 days, and now has just 2 open roles.

This is not an entry-level market. The median minimum experience asked is 5 years, and 18% of postings want 10 or more years. Only 61% of postings state a years requirement at all, so some employers leave it open, but when they do name a number it tends to be high. By title, 62% of roles are mid-level, 14% senior and 9% principal, while only 8% are junior.

Remote work is rare here: just 5% of open roles are remote, so plan on being near an office. On the skills side, AI and machine learning shows up in 10% of postings, Power BI in 9%, CRM in 7% and SQL in 6%. Formal certifications are asked for far less often, PMP appears in just 2% of postings. Process methods like root cause analysis (6%), Lean (5%) and Six Sigma (4%) come up more than named certifications.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Look past the biggest names

The top 8 employers hold only 17% of open roles. Companies like Amartha, Bjakcareer, PWC and Lam Research also have real openings, so widen your search beyond the largest hirers.

  • Be ready to show years of experience

The median ask is 5 years minimum, and 18% of postings want 10 or more. If you are early career, expect fewer matches: only 8% of roles are junior.

  • Plan for on-site work

Only 5% of open Operations roles are remote. If location flexibility matters to you, check each listing closely before applying.

Momentum

New Operations roles each week

Last 30 days: 328 new roles, against 294 the 30 days before (+12%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
