This week's read

The weekly flow of new remote marketing jobs has slowed a lot since its high point. The week of 14 September brought 37 new postings, the most of any week tracked. By the week of 26 October that had fallen to 12, a drop of 68% from the peak. Over the last 30 days as a whole, 96 new roles were posted, down from 140 in the prior 30 days, a fall of 31%.

Even with fewer new postings each week, the market still has plenty of open roles: 377 across 188 companies, with the typical role staying open for 35 days before it is filled or pulled. Jobs at My Amazon Guy and Virtual Colleague lead the list of employers posting the most, and the top 8 employers between them hold 36% of all open roles. The rest are spread thinly across many smaller hirers.

Looking at what employers want, platform skills lead the way. Meta Ads and LinkedIn Ads are each named in 19% of postings, with TikTok and Instagram close behind. CRM experience, AI and machine learning, and Google Analytics each turn up in 13% of postings, and Canva in 12%. Formal certifications barely feature: PMP and Salesforce Certified Administrator appear in essentially none of the postings read.

On experience, most roles are written for people already a few years into their career rather than beginners or veterans. The median minimum asked for is 3 years, and only 6% of postings want 10 or more years of experience. Mid-level titles make up 67% of all open roles, far more than senior, lead, principal or junior titles combined. Every role in this set is remote, so location itself is not the filter, your years of experience and the platforms you know are.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect fewer new postings each week

New roles per week have fallen from a peak of 37 to 12 recently, and the last 30 days saw 96 new postings against 140 the month before. Check often rather than waiting for a flood of new listings.

  • Lead with platform skills, not certificates

Meta Ads and LinkedIn Ads each appear in 19% of postings, with TikTok, Instagram, CRM, AI and machine learning, Google Analytics and Canva also common. Certifications like PMP barely show up, so platform experience matters more on your resume.

  • Aim at the mid-level, not the top

67% of open roles are mid-level titles and the median ask is 3 years of experience; only 6% of postings want 10 or more years. If you have a few years in marketing, you are in the largest pool of openings.

Momentum

New Marketing roles each week

Last 30 days: 96 new roles, against 140 the 30 days before (-31%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
