The number of new software engineer postings each week hit its high on 5 October at 50 roles. By the week of 26 October it was down to 29, a 42% drop from that peak. Over the last 30 days, 141 new roles were posted, down 14% from the 164 posted in the prior 30 days. The market is not closing, but it is clearly slower than it was a month ago.
There are still 429 open roles spread across 164 companies, and the typical role stays open 44 days before it is filled or pulled. No single employer dominates: the top 8 companies together hold only 26% of all open roles. Activate Interactive Pte leads with 20 open roles, followed by DBS and Micron with 18 each, and JPMorganChase with 17.
Employers are asking for experience. The median posting wants at least 5 years, and 9% of roles ask for 10 years or more. That said, only 58% of postings state a years requirement at all, so many listings leave it open and are worth a look even if you are not sure you qualify on paper.
Python is the most asked skill, showing up in 46% of postings, with Java in 34%. AI and machine learning, AWS, and REST APIs each appear in 28% of postings. Among industries named, financial services leads at 7%, followed by semiconductors at 6%.
Two things stand out if you are planning your search. Only 1% of open roles are remote, so expect to work on site. And pay is almost never listed: 0% of postings here state a salary, so you will likely need to ask directly or wait until later in the process to find out what a role pays.
