Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 175 open legal and compliance roles in Singapore right now, spread across 114 companies. New postings rose 24% over the last 30 days, from 46 to 57. But the weekly pace has cooled: the peak week was 19 October with 18 new roles, and the week of 26 October brought 15, a drop of 17% from that peak.

OCBC has the most open roles at 13, followed by PwC with 9 and Deloitte SEA with 6. Airwallex, NRF and Waystone each have 4, and Binance and ING have 3 apiece. Even so, the top 8 employers hold just 26% of all open roles, so most of the hiring is happening outside the biggest names.

Experience requirements sit in the middle range: the median minimum asked is 5 years, and 14% of postings want 10 or more. Three in four roles state a required years figure. Roles also take a while to fill, with a median of 35 days open.

When it comes to what employers want to see, anti money laundering knowledge tops the list, named in 27% of postings, ahead of financial services experience at 21%, KYC at 14%, banking at 13% and fintech at 11%. Certifications come up far less often: ICA certification appears in 5%, CAMS in 4%, and CIPM in 2%.

Working from home is rare in this market: only 2% of open roles are remote. Pay is hard to judge too, since too few postings list a salary to say what the market is paying.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Plan to be in the office

Only 2% of open roles are remote. If you need flexibility, check this early rather than assume it is negotiable later in the process.

  • Know your years of experience

The median minimum asked is 5 years, and 14% of roles want 10 or more. Be ready to show where you fit before you apply.

  • AML and KYC background stands out

AML is named in 27% of postings and KYC in 14%, well ahead of specific certifications. Highlight hands on AML or KYC work in your applications.

Momentum

New Legal roles each week

Last 30 days: 57 new roles, against 46 the 30 days before (+24%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
