Issue of 2 November 2026This week's read
There are 496 open Legal & Compliance roles across the rest of Asia-Pacific right now, spread across 259 companies. New postings rose 33% over the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before that, 112 new roles versus 84. Weekly postings held fairly flat through September, then climbed through October, peaking at 35 new roles in the week of 19 October and staying close to that with 34 last week.
The top 8 employers account for 22% of all open roles, so hiring is spread across many companies rather than concentrated in a few. Axiomtalentplatform has the most open roles at 29, followed by PWC with 20 and Deloitte SEA with 17. Russell McVeagh, GHR, Binance, CTBC Holding and CIMB Group Malaysia round out the top 8, each with single-digit counts.
This is mostly a mid-career market. 60% of roles are tagged mid-level, 18% senior, 11% junior, 7% principal and 3% lead. The median minimum experience asked is 5 years, and only 12% of postings ask for 10 or more years, so a long track record is not the norm here. 65% of postings do state a years requirement, so check the listing before you assume.
AML is the industry tag that shows up most, named in 14% of postings, ahead of financial services at 12%, and banking and fintech at 6% each. Among certifications, CAMS appears in 4% of postings and ICA certification in 2%. AI and machine learning is mentioned in 7% of postings, but other tech tools barely register. Only 7% of roles are remote, and the median role stays open 31 days, so there is some time to prepare a strong application.
What this means for you
Three things you can act on this week
- AML knowledge is in demand
AML is named in 14% of postings, more than any other industry tag, with financial services close behind at 12%. If you have AML experience, lead with it.
- You don't need a decade of experience
60% of roles are mid-level and only 12% ask for 10 or more years. The median minimum asked is 5 years, so most roles are reachable well before senior level.
- Plan for office-based work
Only 7% of open roles are remote. Roles stay open a median of 31 days, so there is time to apply once you find one that fits.
Momentum
New Legal roles each week
Last 30 days: 112 new roles, against 84 the 30 days before (+33%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.
