US project manager postings up 13% this month, but the weekly pace has cooled from its peak
There are 4,769 open PM roles across 2,150 companies, and new postings are up 13% over the last 30 days. Still, the week of 26 October brought fewer new roles than the week of 19 October, which was the busiest week on record.

There are 4,769 open project manager roles in the US right now, spread across 2,150 companies. A typical role stays open 27 days before it's filled or pulled. New postings in the last 30 days hit 2,095, up 13% from the 1,850 posted in the prior 30 days.
But the week-by-week picture shows the pace has eased. The week of 19 October was the busiest of the last eight weeks, with 602 new roles. The following week, 26 October, brought 521, a drop of 13% from that peak. The month is still up overall, but the most recent week was quieter than the one before it.
Amazon has the most open roles among named employers, with 84. But the top 8 companies together hold only 9% of all open roles, so this is not a market run by a handful of big names. Among employers with enough data to track, Northrop Grumman posted 4% more new roles than the month before, while RTX fell 11%, Capital One fell 7%, and CACI fell 19%.
Pay is posted on 54% of open roles, and the typical range across all levels is $105k to $152k. By level, mid-level roles typically run $99k to $140k, senior and lead roles $116k to $160k, principal and staff roles $109k to $170k, and director roles $161k to $230k.
Experience requirements are not light: the median minimum asked for is 5 years, and 18% of postings want 10 or more. Only 10% of roles are remote. On tools and certifications, PMP is named in a third of postings, Agile in 26%, Jira in 18%, and Microsoft Project in 13%. On visas, 23% of open roles sit at employers with recent H-1B filings, a group that includes Amazon, JPMorganChase, Oracle and Capgemini.
