PM hiring across the rest of Asia-Pacific is wide, not deep: 315 firms, no clear leader

Postings are up 3% over the last 30 days, but the top 8 employers hold just 14% of all open roles. This is a market of many small doors, not one big one.

Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 608 open project manager roles right now, spread across 315 companies. New postings are up 3% over the past 30 days, from 157 to 162. The busiest week on record in this stretch was the week of 26 October, with 52 new roles, and that is also the most recent week, so the pace has not dropped off.

No single employer dominates this market. The Hong Kong Jockey Club has the most open roles at 23, followed by PWC with 13, CTBC Holding with 11, and Deloitte SEA with 9. Even so, the top 8 employers together hold only 14% of all open roles. If you are job hunting here, you will likely need to look well beyond the biggest names.

Experience requirements are not light. The median minimum asked for is 5 years, and 14% of postings want 10 years or more. Two in 3 open roles state a years requirement at all. By seniority, 65% of titles are mid-level, 17% senior, and smaller slices sit at lead, junior, and principal.

On tools and methods, Agile is named in 23% of postings and Scrum in 11%, with Jira close behind at 10%. PMP is named in 26% of postings and PRINCE2 in 10%. Among technical skills, AI and machine learning lead at 7%, ahead of Power BI at 5% and SAP at 4%.

Working from home is rare here. Only 5% of open roles are remote, and the typical role stays open for 29 days before it is filled or pulled. Financial services and consulting are the most common industries behind these postings, at 7% and 6% of roles.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Cast a wide net

315 companies are hiring and the top 8 hold just 14% of roles. Do not focus only on the big names like The Hong Kong Jockey Club or PWC; smaller employers make up most of the market.

  • Expect an experience bar

The median minimum asked is 5 years, and 14% of postings want 10 or more. Two-thirds of postings state a years requirement, so be ready to speak to your track record.

  • Know the common asks

Agile appears in 23% of postings and PMP is named in 26%. These are the most frequently mentioned methods and certifications in this market right now, worth knowing even if you decide not to pursue them.

Momentum

New Project Management roles each week

Last 30 days: 162 new roles, against 157 the 30 days before (+3%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
