Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 216 open security engineer roles in Singapore right now, spread across 77 companies. New postings over the last 30 days ticked up slightly to 58, from 56 in the prior 30 days. But look week by week and the picture is different: the week of 14 September saw 20 new roles, the most of any week since, and by the week of 26 October that had fallen to 11, a drop of 45% from that peak.

This is not an entry-level market. The median minimum experience asked for is 5 years, and 13% of postings want 10 years or more. Only 12% of roles are tagged junior, while mid-level roles make up 51% and principal-level roles make up 18%. If you are early in your career, you will be competing for a smaller slice of the market.

Eight employers account for 46% of all open roles. Network For Electronic Transfers tops the list with 22 openings, followed by PWC with 20 and Deloitte SEA with 16. JPMorganChase, DBS, SG Gov Terp, OCBC and Kyndryl round out the top group, each with single-digit counts. Financial services, payments and banking show up most often among the industries named in postings.

If you want to work from home, this is a tough market for that: only 3% of open roles are remote. Pay is also rarely disclosed, with 0% of postings stating a figure, so you will need to ask directly in interviews. On skills, Python is named in 25% of postings, AWS in 18%, and SIEM in 17%, while CISSP is the most asked-for certification at 37%, ahead of CISM at 24% and CISA at 18%.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a seniority filter

A median minimum of 5 years, with 13% asking for 10 years or more and only 12% of roles junior, means your resume needs to show years of hands-on experience, not just interest.

  • Watch the slower pace

Weekly new postings have fallen 45% from the mid-September peak. Apply as roles appear rather than waiting, since weekly volume has been uneven.

  • Lead with CISSP if you have it

CISSP appears in 37% of postings, more than CISM or CISA. If you hold it, put it near the top of your resume since it is the certification most often named.

Momentum

New Security roles each week

Last 30 days: 58 new roles, against 56 the 30 days before (+4%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
