Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 1,682 open customer support roles in India right now, spread across 598 companies. New postings are up 41% over the last 30 days, rising from 422 to 596. Weekly postings have been climbing steadily too, from 109 in the week of 7 September to 196 in the week of 26 October, the highest of the past eight weeks.

Roles do not stay open long. The median time a posting stays live is just 7 days, so if you see something you want, apply quickly. One company, OneTP, has 225 open roles on its own, well ahead of the next closest, Kotak Mahindra Bank, at 52. Still, the top 8 employers together hold only 27% of all open roles, so most of the hiring is happening outside the biggest names.

Most roles ask for a few years of experience, not a decade. The median minimum is 3 years, and only 6% of postings ask for 10 or more years. Just over half of postings, 56%, state a years requirement at all, and the title mix leans heavily toward mid-level work: 72% of roles are mid-level, 13% senior, 10% junior.

On skills, SQL shows up in 14% of postings, followed by ServiceNow at 12%, Microsoft Windows at 11% and Linux at 10%. Root cause analysis is asked for in 14% of postings and ITIL in 11%, so familiarity with structured troubleshooting and service management processes comes up often. Certifications like CompTIA A+, CCNA and CCIE are each named in only 1% of postings, so they are not common requirements.

Two things to know before you search: only 2% of roles are remote, so expect most jobs to be on-site or hybrid. And pay is rarely posted, just 1% of roles list a figure, so there is not enough data here to say what the market typically pays.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Apply fast, roles close quickly

The median posting stays open just 7 days. With new roles up 41% in the past month, check listings often and apply as soon as you see a fit.

  • Know the common tools

SQL (14%), ServiceNow (12%), Microsoft Windows (11%) and Linux (10%) show up most. Root cause analysis (14%) and ITIL (11%) are also frequently named.

  • Do not expect remote or posted pay

Only 2% of roles are remote and just 1% list pay. Plan for on-site or hybrid work and expect to discuss compensation directly with employers.

Momentum

New Customer Support roles each week

Last 30 days: 596 new roles, against 422 the 30 days before (+41%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
