Remote Data Analyst postings cool: new roles down 39% in 30 days

The weekly pace has also eased from its peak in early September, so this is a real slowdown, not a one-week dip.

Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

New postings for remote Data Analyst roles fell 39% over the last 30 days, down to 55 from 90 in the period before. The weekly count tells the same story: the week of 7 September had 29 new roles, the most of any week tracked, and the week of 26 October had 18, a drop of 38% from that peak. There was a small bounce the final week, but the overall direction this month has been down.

Even with fewer new postings, there is still a decent pool to apply to: 122 open roles across 81 companies right now. The typical role stays open for 17 days before it is filled or pulled, so there is time to prepare an application rather than rush one out.

Emplois sur GROUPE TEHORA has the most open roles at 11, followed by CACI with 10, Care Source with 5, and Acxiom LLC with 4. Between them, the top 8 employers hold 32% of all open roles, which means the rest of the market is spread across many smaller employers rather than concentrated in a few names.

On skills, SQL is the clear standard: it shows up in 45% of postings read in full. Python follows at 24%, Power BI at 21%, and Tableau at 18%. Agile is named in 1 in 5 postings, more often than any specific project tool like Jira or Confluence.

On experience, 67% of open roles state a minimum, and the median ask is 5 years. Only 11% of roles ask for 10 or more years, so this market leans toward people with some experience rather than veterans. Seniority mix backs that up: 70% of titles are mid level, with senior and principal titles making up smaller shares.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • SQL is the baseline skill

SQL appears in 45% of postings read in full, well ahead of Python at 24% and Power BI at 21%. If you only brush up on one tool before applying, make it SQL.

  • Mid-level experience is the sweet spot

67% of roles state a minimum years requirement, with a median ask of 5 years. Only 11% ask for 10 or more years, so heavy senior experience is not the norm here.

  • Apply without delay

New postings are down 39% over the last 30 days and the weekly pace has eased 38% from its early September peak. With 122 roles still open and a 17-day median before roles close, move quickly when you see one.

Momentum

New Analytics roles each week

Last 30 days: 55 new roles, against 90 the 30 days before (-39%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.

122 roles is too many to read.
