Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

New Customer Success roles in Australia fell 15% over the past 30 days, down to 73 from 86 the month before. But look at the week by week picture and the story shifts: the week of 26 Oct posted 22 new roles, the same number as the strongest week back on 21 Sep. So while the monthly total is down, the pace hasn't actually dropped off in recent weeks.

This is not a market run by a handful of big names. There are 177 open roles spread across 148 different companies, and the top 8 employers together hold only 14% of them. MUFG Pension & Market Services has the most listed openings, with Palo Alto Networks, Wk and Gartner also among the busier hirers. A typical role stays open for 31 days before it's filled or pulled.

Most of what's open sits in the middle of the career ladder. Mid-level titles make up 71% of postings, well ahead of senior or principal level work. If you're a few years into your career, this is where most of the activity is.

On skills, CRM and Salesforce each appear in 18% of postings, so they're the most commonly named tools. Don't expect to work from home easily either: only 13% of roles are listed as remote. And if you're hoping to size up the pay before applying, you're mostly out of luck, just 7% of postings include a salary figure.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Look past the big names

With 177 roles spread across 148 companies and the top 8 employers holding only 14% of them, no single firm dominates. Check smaller and less visible employers, not just the busier names like MUFG Pension & Market Services or Palo Alto Networks.

  • Aim at mid-level roles

Mid-level titles make up 71% of this market, far more than senior or principal postings. If you've got a few years of experience, this is where most of the openings sit.

  • Plan for office-based work

Only 13% of open roles are listed as remote. Go in expecting to be on-site or hybrid rather than fully remote, and confirm the setup before you apply.

Momentum

New Customer Success roles each week

Last 30 days: 73 new roles, against 86 the 30 days before (-15%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
