This week's read

There are 333 open Customer Success roles in Canada right now, spread across 265 different companies. That spread matters: the top 8 employers, including RBC, Visa, Amazon and Fil, together hold only 10% of all open roles. This is not a market where a handful of big names are doing most of the hiring. It is a wide field of smaller employers each posting a few roles at a time.

The pace of new postings has slowed. The busiest week recently was 28 September, with 51 new roles. By the week of 26 October, that had dropped to 38, a 25% fall from the peak. Looking at the last 30 days against the 30 days before, new postings fell 10%, from 161 to 145. Roles are also moving fast once posted, sitting open for a median of just 20 days.

Most roles ask for some experience. The median minimum is 4 years, and 77% of postings state a years requirement. Only 5% ask for 10 or more years, so this is mostly a mid-career market rather than one for very senior hires. That lines up with the title breakdown: 73% of roles are mid level, with senior, principal, lead and junior titles making up smaller slices.

On tools, Salesforce and CRM experience each show up in 22% of postings, and AI or machine learning is named in 11%. SaaS is the biggest industry context, named in 31% of postings, ahead of consulting at 10% and financial services at 9%. If you are weighing where to focus your search, these are the terms showing up most often in real job ads right now.

Pay is posted on 44% of open roles, 149 of them, with a typical range of C$80k to C$105k across all levels. Mid level roles, the largest group at 118 postings, typically run C$78k to C$100k, while senior and lead roles, 25 postings, run C$100k to C$133k. On visa sponsorship, only 1% of open roles sit at employers with recent LMIA filings, so most roles in this market are not obviously built for sponsorship.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a wide, fragmented search

No employer dominates: the top 8 companies hold just 10% of open roles. Cast a wide net across the 265 companies hiring rather than chasing a few big names.

  • Aim mid level, not entry or executive

73% of roles are mid level and the median minimum is 4 years. Only 5% ask for 10-plus years, so this market rewards solid mid-career experience over junior or very senior profiles.

  • Lead with Salesforce or CRM

Salesforce and CRM each appear in 22% of postings, the highest of any named tool. If you have hands-on experience with either, put it near the top of your resume.

New Customer Success roles each week

Last 30 days: 145 new roles, against 161 the 30 days before (-10%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. Pay is the median of the yearly ranges employers post; level is read from the job title. Visa sponsors are employers matched to the government's own sponsor records. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
