Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

If you have been watching this market for a while, you will have noticed it slowing. New postings in the last 30 days fell 37%, from 65 to 41. The weekly pace tells the same story: 17 new roles went up the week of 7 September, but by 26 October that had dropped to 7, a fall of 59% from that peak.

There is still a decent pool to work with. Right now there are 101 open roles spread across 84 different companies, all of them remote. No single employer dominates: Matrix42 has the most open roles at 6, while the rest of the top names, including Become 1 GmbH, BenePass, Blink Health, Censys, GitLab and others, each have 2. Together, the top 8 employers hold only 20% of all open roles, so this is a market where you need to look beyond the obvious names.

Most roles are written for the middle of the career ladder, not the top. Mid-level titles make up 74% of postings, with only 12% senior, 7% principal, 4% junior and 3% lead. Only 10% of postings ask for 10 or more years of experience, though where years are stated at all, the typical minimum sits at 5.

On tools, Salesforce and CRM experience each come up in a quarter of postings, HubSpot in 13%, and AI and machine learning skills in 8%. SaaS is the industry named most often, in a third of postings, with healthcare next at 21%. Certifications barely feature: ACA, Certified Coding Specialist and PMP each appear in only 1% of listings, so they are far from a must-have here.

Roles that do open are not filled quickly. The median open role has been live for 35 days, so even with fewer new postings arriving each week, there is time to apply once you spot one that fits.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a slower trickle of roles

New postings fell 37% over the last 30 days and the weekly pace has dropped from 17 to 7 since early September. Check this market often rather than expecting a steady flow.

  • Don't chase only the big names

The top 8 employers hold just 20% of open roles. With 84 companies hiring, spend time finding smaller or less visible employers rather than only applying to the most listed ones.

  • Mid-level experience fits most roles

74% of postings are mid-level and only 10% ask for 10-plus years. If you have around 5 years of experience, you match the typical minimum stated in this market.

Momentum

New Customer Success roles each week

Last 30 days: 41 new roles, against 65 the 30 days before (-37%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.

101 roles is too many to read.
Ashney reads them for you.

It scores every Customer Success role in remote roles against your résumé and surfaces only the ones worth your time, with the one honest gap on each. The median Customer Success role in remote roles stays open for 35 days, so being early matters.
