Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 113 open QA and Test Engineer roles across 76 companies in the rest of Latin America right now, and the typical role stays open 20 days. The weekly pace peaked at 20 new roles in the week of 19 Oct, then dropped to 12 in the week of 26 Oct, a 40% fall from that peak. Looking at the last 30 days as a whole, 59 new roles appeared, against 60 in the 30 days before that, a 2% dip.

Experience asks are moderate. The median minimum is 4 years, and only 5% of postings ask for 10 or more years. About 68% of open roles state a years requirement at all. By title, mid level roles make up 58% of postings, senior 31%, junior 8%, lead 2% and principal 1%, so this is mostly a mid to senior market.

On tools, Playwright is named in 41% of postings and Postman in 35%, ahead of JavaScript at 29% and SQL at 28%. Selenium and TypeScript each appear in 25% of postings, Java in 19% and Azure DevOps in 18%. For ways of working, Jira shows up in 37% of postings, Agile in 34% and Scrum in 25%. ISTQB is the only certification asked at any scale, named in 16% of postings.

Encora leads the employer list with 13 open roles, well ahead of the rest of the top 8, which includes Periferia IT, Amadeus and Visa among others. Even so, the top 8 employers together hold only 30% of all open roles, so hiring is spread across the other companies on the list too. Remote work is limited, with only 16% of open roles listed as remote.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Know Playwright and Postman

These two tools top the ask list, at 41% and 35% of postings. Brushing up on them before applying could help you match more job descriptions.

  • ISTQB is optional, not required

Only 16% of postings mention ISTQB, and other certifications barely register. Don't assume you need one to apply for most roles here.

  • Plan for on-site or hybrid work

Only 16% of open roles are remote. If you need full remote work, your options are limited, so check each listing's location terms before applying.

Momentum

New QA roles each week

Last 30 days: 59 new roles, against 60 the 30 days before (-2%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
