Solutions Engineer hiring in Europe picked up a lot this month. There were 606 new roles in the last 30 days, up from 458 in the 30 days before that, a 32% rise. But if you look week by week, the pace has already eased: postings peaked at 192 in the week of 19 October and dropped to 170 the week after, an 11% fall from that peak.
There are 1,956 open roles right now, spread across 803 companies. No single employer dominates: the top 8 employers together hold only 18% of all open roles. Capgemini leads with 96 open roles, followed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise with 45, Accenture with 39 and Atos with 38.
This is not an entry level market. Only 3% of postings are labelled junior, while 40% are principal level and 43% are mid level. Where years of experience are stated, which is 53% of roles, the median minimum asked for is 5 years, and 15% of postings ask for 10 or more years.
If you want to work from home, options are limited: only 10% of open roles are remote. Pay is rarely shared too, with just 8% of postings listing it, so there is not enough data here to say what the market typically pays.
On skills, AI and machine learning lead the list, named in 23% of postings, ahead of Azure at 15%, AWS at 14% and Python at 13%. SAP and Salesforce as platforms show up too, each named in postings alongside the companies of the same name. Certifications are asked for far less often: CISSP appears in 2% of postings, CCNP in 1% and AZ-305 in 1%.
