Issue of 2 November 2026This week's read
Solutions Engineer hiring across the rest of Asia-Pacific picked up fast this month. New postings rose 41% over the last 30 days, with 131 new roles compared to the 30 days before. Most of that came in two strong weeks in late October, though the pace has eased slightly since its peak week.
There are 506 open roles right now, spread across 235 different companies. The eight biggest employers, including Cadence, KLA, ABB and Synnex, only account for 21% of all open roles between them. That means most of the hiring is happening outside the biggest names, so it pays to look beyond the usual suspects.
This is not an entry-level market. Half of postings are written as mid-level roles, but 30% are principal-level, and only 3% are junior. The median minimum experience asked for is 5 years, and 15% of postings want 10 years or more.
On skills, AI and machine learning comes up in 15% of postings, Python in 14%, Azure in 13% and AWS in 10%. Semiconductors is the biggest named industry context, appearing in 11% of postings. Certifications are rarely named outright: CISSP appears in only 2%.
If you want to work from home, this market will be tough: only 5% of open roles are remote. Roles also tend to stay open for a while, with a median of 40 days from posting to close.
What this means for you
Three things you can act on this week
- Look past the top employers
The eight biggest hirers, including Cadence, KLA and ABB, only make up 21% of open roles. With 235 companies hiring, spreading your search wide matters more than chasing the best-known names.
- Brush up cloud and AI skills
AI and machine learning (15%), Python (14%), Azure (13%) and AWS (10%) are the most asked-for skills. These show up far more often than any certification.
- Expect a senior bar, not remote work
The median minimum experience asked is 5 years, and 30% of roles are principal-level. Only 5% of roles are remote, so plan for an in-person or hybrid search.
Momentum
New Solutions Engineering roles each week
Last 30 days: 131 new roles, against 93 the 30 days before (+41%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.
