This week's read

There are 107 open Operations roles in Ireland right now, spread across 77 companies. New postings over the last 30 days matched the 30 days before that, so the market held steady. But the weekly pace has cooled: the week of 19 October saw 17 new roles, the most of the past two months, and the week of 26 October brought 11, down 35% from that peak.

If you can get sponsored, this is a reasonable market to try. 42% of open roles sit at employers with recent filings on Ireland's employment permits list. Microsoft, Meta, Stripe, Amazon and AstraZeneca all appear on that list, and Microsoft leads the top employers with 4 open roles, followed by Meta, NTRS and Stripe with 3 each.

Experience bars are set fairly high. The median role asks for at least 5 years, and 1 in 5 postings want 10 years or more. 61% of roles state a years requirement at all, and by title, mid-level roles make up 57% of openings, with principal roles at 19% and senior at 14%, so this is not a market full of entry-level openings (junior roles are just 7%).

On tools, Salesforce shows up in 16% of postings, Power BI and SQL each in 14%, and AI and machine learning in 12%. Consulting, financial services, fintech and payments are the industries named most often. Formal methods like Lean and root cause analysis each appear in 7% of roles, Six Sigma in 5%, and certifications are asked for rarely: PMP in 6% of postings, PRINCE2 in 3%.

Don't expect to work from home in this market: just 1% of roles are remote. Pay is also rarely stated, with only 18% of postings naming a figure, so there isn't enough data to say what the market typically pays. The median role stays open 19 days before it's filled.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a high experience bar

The median Operations role in Ireland asks for at least 5 years, and 1 in 5 want 10 years or more. Tailor your application to show depth, not just breadth.

  • Check the visa sponsor list first

42% of open roles sit at employers with recent filings on Ireland's employment permits list, including Microsoft, Meta, Stripe, Amazon and AstraZeneca. Start there if sponsorship matters to you.

  • Plan for office-based work

Only 1% of open roles are remote, so most Operations hiring in Ireland expects you on site. Factor commute and location into your search early.

Momentum

New Operations roles each week

Last 30 days: 46 new roles, against 46 the 30 days before (0%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. Visa sponsors are employers matched to the government's own sponsor records. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
