This week's read

Hiring in Irish IT and infrastructure roles is picking up. Companies posted 55 new roles in the last 30 days, up from 50 the 30 days before, a 10% rise. There are 154 open roles right now across 87 companies, and the typical role stays open 26 days before it is filled or pulled.

Amazon is the biggest single hirer with 20 open roles, well ahead of Astreya and Cisco, which each have 6. State Street has 5, and Guidewire has 4. Together the top 8 employers hold 32% of all open roles, so beyond the big names, hiring is spread thin across many smaller companies.

If you need visa sponsorship, know that 52% of open roles sit at employers who have recently filed on Ireland's employment permits list. Amazon, Cisco, State Street, eBay, Electricity Supply Board and Fiserv are all on that list, which is worth checking before you apply.

These roles are not entry-level. The typical posting asks for a minimum of 5 years' experience, and 56% of roles state a years requirement at all. Only 8% ask for 10 or more years, but the title mix tells the real story: 52% are mid-level, 24% senior, and just 9% junior.

On skills, Python shows up in half of all postings, AWS in 36%, Linux in 33%, and Terraform in 30%. Certifications are rarely named, CCNA appears in just 4%. Working from home is uncommon here too, with only 5% of roles marked remote, and too few postings list pay to say what the market typically offers.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a five-year experience bar

The median posting asks for at least 5 years of experience, and over half of mid-level and senior titles make up most roles. Only 9% are junior, so entry-level options are limited this week.

  • Check the visa sponsor list first

52% of open roles sit at employers with recent visa filings on Ireland's employment permits list. Amazon, Cisco, State Street, eBay, Electricity Supply Board and Fiserv are named on it.

  • Python and AWS lead the skills asked

Python appears in half of all postings, AWS in 36%, Linux in 33%, and Terraform in 30%. These show up far more often than certifications like CCNA, which appears in just 4%.

Momentum

New IT / Infra roles each week

Last 30 days: 55 new roles, against 50 the 30 days before (+10%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. Visa sponsors are employers matched to the government's own sponsor records. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
