Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

There are 146 open Solutions Engineer roles across the rest of Latin America right now. Look at the titles and you will notice something odd: half are labeled mid-level and 40% are principal. Senior roles make up only 5%. If you are aiming for a senior or lead title specifically, you will find far fewer of those than you might expect.

New postings are up 7% over the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before. The weekly count has moved around, from a high early on to similar levels more recently, so the market has kept a steady pace rather than slowing down.

Even for roles called mid-level, employers are asking for real experience. The median minimum asked across postings is 6 years, and 13% of roles ask for 10 years or more. Read the years requirement closely, not just the job title, before you decide whether to apply.

Hiring is spread out. 100 different companies are hiring for those 146 roles, and the eight biggest employers, including Palo Alto Networks, Amazon, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Mastercard, together hold only 20% of the open roles. That means no small group of companies controls this market, so it is worth looking past the familiar names.

On skills, AI and machine learning come up in 21% of postings and AWS in 19%, more than any other named technology. Remote options are limited: only 14% of open roles are remote, so most of this hiring expects you to be on site or close to it.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Check years, not just title

Many roles labeled mid-level still ask for real experience: the median minimum across postings is 6 years, and 13% want 10 years or more. Read the requirement before ruling yourself in or out.

  • Look past the big names

100 companies are hiring for 146 roles, and the top eight employers hold only 20% of them. Don't limit your search to the companies you already know.

  • Expect to be on site

Only 14% of open Solutions Engineer roles in this market are remote. If location flexibility matters to you, check each listing carefully before applying.

Momentum

New Solutions Engineering roles each week

Last 30 days: 48 new roles, against 45 the 30 days before (+7%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
