This week's read

There are 230 open Talent Acquisition roles in Canada right now, spread across 184 companies. The flow of new postings has not changed over the past 30 days: 82 new roles appeared, the same as the 30 days before. But if you look week by week, the pace has slowed. The week of 14 September saw 32 new roles, the most of any week. The most recent week, 26 October, had 27, down 16% from that peak.

Most of these jobs are for people already in the field. Three in four open roles (74%) are mid level, and where years of experience are stated, the median ask is 3 years. Only 8% of roles ask for 10 or more years, and junior roles make up just 8% of postings. If you are early in your career, this is a market where you will be competing for a smaller slice of the openings.

Pay is posted on 32% of roles, which is 73 jobs out of the 230. Where it is shown, the typical range across all levels runs from C$71k to C$95k. For mid-level roles specifically, which make up most of the postings, the typical range is C$70k to C$92k across 58 roles.

No single employer dominates the list. The top 8 companies, including Highspring, CPP Careers, Salesforce and Sonepar, together hold just 11% of all open roles, so hiring is spread thin across many smaller employers rather than concentrated in a few big ones. Remote work is scarce too: only 10% of roles are listed as remote, so most of this hiring expects you in a specific location.

If visa sponsorship matters to you, be aware that only 1% of open roles sit at employers with recent LMIA approvals. Aerotek is named as being on that sponsor list. On the skills side, ATS experience is asked for most often, showing up in 31% of postings, followed by LinkedIn Recruiter at 18% and Workday at 15%. AI and machine learning familiarity appears in 13% of postings, a sign it is becoming a more common line in TA job ads.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect mid-level competition

74% of open roles are mid level and the median ask is 3 years experience. Junior roles are only 8% of postings, so entry-level seekers face a narrower field.

  • Pay is rarely posted

Only 32% of roles show pay. Where they do, the typical range is C$71k to C$95k overall, or C$70k to C$92k for mid-level roles specifically.

  • Check skills employers name

ATS appears in 31% of postings, LinkedIn Recruiter in 18%, and Workday in 15%. These are the tools employers mention most often in this market right now.

Momentum

New Recruiting roles each week

Last 30 days: 82 new roles, against 82 the 30 days before (0%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. Pay is the median of the yearly ranges employers post; level is read from the job title. Visa sponsors are employers matched to the government's own sponsor records. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
