Issue of 2 November 2026

This week's read

Product manager hiring across the rest of Asia-Pacific grew 16% over the last 30 days, with 132 new roles posted against 114 in the prior month. But look at the week-by-week picture and the story is more mixed: postings peaked at 40 new roles the week of 12 October, then eased to 36 by 26 October, a drop of 10% from that high. The month is up, but the most recent weeks have not kept pace with the best one.

If you are applying, expect employers to want experience. The median minimum asked for is 5 years, and 17% of postings want 10 years or more. Only 63% of open roles state a years requirement at all, so plenty leave it open, but where a number is given it tends to be on the senior side. That shows up in the mix of roles too: 55% are mid-level, but senior and principal titles together make up more than a third of postings.

Remote work is scarce in this market. Just 3% of open roles are listed as remote, so most of this hiring expects you in an office or at least in-country. The roles are also spread across a fairly wide set of employers: the top 8 companies account for only 22% of all open roles. CTBC Holding leads with 16 openings, followed by Okx and Super Micro Computer with 14 each, and DBS with 13.

On the skills side, AI and machine learning is named in 23% of postings, by far the most common technical ask, ahead of SQL at 6% and Python at 5%. Agile shows up in 19% of roles, well ahead of specific tools like Jira or Scrum at 5% each. Fintech is the most common industry context, named in 11% of postings, followed by financial services at 9% and pharmaceuticals at 8%. Certifications are rarely required: PMP and CSPO each appear in just 3% of postings.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Expect a senior experience bar

The median minimum is 5 years, and 17% of roles ask for 10 years or more. If your experience is lighter, look toward the 55% of roles pitched at mid-level.

  • Plan for in-office work

Only 3% of open roles are remote. If location flexibility matters to you, factor that in before you apply, since most hiring here expects you on-site.

  • AI and Agile come up often

AI and machine learning is named in 23% of postings and Agile in 19%. Neither is required everywhere, but both appear often enough to be worth knowing where you stand.

New Product roles each week

Last 30 days: 132 new roles, against 114 the 30 days before (+16%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 2 November 2026.
