This week's read

There are 104 open product manager roles across the rest of Latin America right now, posted by 68 companies. New postings rose 38% over the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before, up from 39 new roles to 54. The weekly count has eased a bit since its high in late September, but it is still running close to that level.

Roles sit open for a median of 28 days before employers move on, so there is no need to rush a strong application in. Most postings ask for experience: the median minimum is 5 years, and 12% want 10 years or more. Half of all open roles do not state a years requirement at all, which leaves room for a wider set of applicants to apply without being filtered out up front.

Remote work is scarce here. Only 14% of open roles are listed as remote, so most hiring is tied to a specific city or office.

No single company controls this market. Despegar posts the most roles, followed by Mastercard, with Sezzle, Abbott, Auxis, CI&T, Clara and Millicom rounding out the most active hirers. Together the eight biggest employers hold just 34% of all open roles, so most of the hiring is spread across smaller and mid-size companies.

On the skills side, SQL is the most asked-for tool, named in 27% of postings, well ahead of AI and machine learning, Power BI and Claude. Agile is named in 24% of postings, more than any other way of working, with Jira and Scrum also common. Fintech and payments are the industries that show up most in these job descriptions.

What this means for you

Three things you can act on this week

  • Apply even without 10 years

Only 12% of postings ask for 10 or more years of experience, and half of roles do not state a years requirement at all. Do not rule yourself out based on seniority alone.

  • Look past the top names

The eight biggest employers hold just 34% of open roles. Despegar and Mastercard post the most, but most hiring is happening at smaller companies across the region.

  • Plan for on-site work

Only 14% of open roles are remote. If you need remote work, filter for it early since most postings expect you in a specific location.

Momentum

New Product roles each week

Last 30 days: 54 new roles, against 39 the 30 days before (+38%). Each week counts the same companies, and a role counts as new only in the week it was posted, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth.

How we count

Ashney reads companies' own careers sites directly, hourly, not job boards. A role posted for many cities counts once, and staffing agencies are left out. A role counts as new in the week it was posted, and every change is measured at the same companies in both periods, so a careers site we start reading never shows up as growth. The written read is by the Ashney Intelligence Engine from this issue's numbers only, and every number and employer in it is checked against them before it is published. This report is written weekly; issue of 7 November 2026.
